carrigtohill does not presently have a civic space or urban focal point. this proposal, to develop a mixed use scheme comprising retail, office and residential uses, represents an opportunity to create a visible, vibrant and viable new public space with an existing green public amenity space as its setting, while giving a new frontage to the town. it will reinforce existing pedestrian connections from the main st to the existing public amenity space, and also introduce new potential linkages within the existing urban fabric both now and in the future. the proposed built environment that will create this new urban space will provide shopping, working and living opportunities. it will also allow for the possibility of other activities beneficial to the town such as weekend markets, local entertainment or festival activities, and other public functions within carrigtohill enhancing the overall experience of living within the town.
